Matthew is an experienced solicitor within our Commercial Litigation team.

Having worked in house for a large local authority (which included dealing with supplier disputes) he is well placed to understand the intricacies of the public sector and public sector organisation including the motivations, and overall demands on the sector, including its regulatory framework, commercial pressures and the decision-making processes.

Most recently, Matthew has taken a larger role in the team’s contentious procurement offering and has been heavily involved in each case over the last 12 months, which includes defending a public sector organisation in High Court proceedings. Matthew has also established a practice in assisting education and public sector clients through all manner of supplier disputes whether that be claims in the energy sector for unpaid commissions, claims regarding defective goods and discrimination claims.

In the private sector, Matthew advises on breach of contract and misrepresentation claims, procurement challenges, shareholder disputes and defamation matters. All of these claims have been specific to suppliers and business to business relationships. His experience also includes advising local authorities on termination rights and procurement compliance, assisting unsuccessful bidders with tender challenges, and acting in unfair prejudice claims.

Outside of conducting litigation work, Matthew also provides training to the public sector in relation defending procurement challenges.
