Victoria is a Managing Associate in the Healthcare team here at Ward Hadaway.

Victoria advises CCG and Trust clients in respect of mental capacity, best interests and deprivation of liberty issues. Victoria works closely with these clients when representing their interests, both in the lead up and during Court of Protection proceedings. Victoria also provides general legal advice on a variety of healthcare-related issues. In addition, Victoria represents Trust clients at Inquests.

Experience

Victoria also has expertise in serious medical treatment cases, heard in the Court of Protection and inherent jurisdiction of the High Court, regarding the provision or withdrawal of specified treatment.

  • S117 – A shared responsibility and how to resolve disputes

    Section 117 of the Mental Health Act 1983 ("MHA") imposes a joint duty on Integrated Care Boards ("ICBs") and Local Authorities ("LAs") to work with voluntary agencies to provide after-care services for anyone discharged from detention under section 3, section 37, section 45A, section 47 or section 48 of the MHA when they leave hospital[1].
