Matthew is an experienced private client & commercial litigator. He has a specialism in contentious probate work and is a full member of ACTAPS – The Association of Contentious Trust & Probate Specialists.

Matthew is part of the contentious probate team at Ward Hadaway and advises in relation to all aspects of private wealth disputes. He works with trustees, executors and beneficiaries and assists with Inheritance Act Claims, applications to remove or appoint executors and trustees, challenging Wills, and trust litigation.

Matthew has broad general litigation experience over 12 years, including professional negligence claims, contractual disputes, & property disputes.

Experience

Matthew has extensive experience in private wealth disputes, including:

  • Representing children of the Deceased in a case involving multiple Inheritance Act Claims
  • Defending a former executor in a breach of trust claim worth over £1.5million
  • Acting for the adult children of the Deceased in a case involving the appointment & removal of trustees
  • Representing the surviving partner of the Deceased in relation to pension assets and an Estate claim involving the Deceased’s former spouse and the validity of an old Will that benefits the family of the former spouse.
  • Acting for the beneficiaries of a much earlier Will in a claim that the later Will (from which they did not benefit) which was shown to be a forgery following expert handwriting evidence.
