Sophie recently joined the team in Leeds having previously worked in family law for over 9 years.

Sophie’s particular expertise focuses on children matters in both private and public children law. Sophie has extensive experience advising in private family law matters such as contact and residence disputes, grandparents’ applications to spend time with their grandchildren, decisions about education and health of a child together with domestic abuse matters such as injunctions. Sophie also has experience in dealing with Forced Marriage Prevention Order applications.

Sophie’s focus now centres around representing parents in public law proceedings. Sophie has experience dealing with various concerns such as domestic abuse, neglect, non-accidental injuries, physical, sexual and emotional abuse and substance misuse matters. Sophie is confident in instructing experts within proceedings and preparing the necessary applications.

Sophie has links with a Leeds based Charity, Safer Leeds, who primarily assist male perpetrators of sexual offences against children through risk assessments, therapy and accessing legal advice. This has led to legal advice given where Children’s Social Care are involved with potentially high risk fathers within Child Protection procedures.

In addition to a wide range of involvement with Care, Placement and Supervision Orders, Sophie also has experience with Special Guardianship Order applications.
