Experience

Having established a grounding in commercial law with an interest in technology and digital matters, before joining Ward Hadaway in 2025, James worked within leading IP teams focusing on advising around IP protection, commercialisation of IP as well as bringing expertise around IP, IT and data issues to corporate transactions including:

• Advising on, drafting and negotiating strategic IP agreements.
• Undertaking Intellectual Property audits and due diligence for companies of all sizes to identify IP risks and opportunities.
• Working with technology focused businesses including around software contracts, SaaS and open source software issues.
• Advising life sciences companies at all stages of their product life cycle.
• Advising leading University technology transfer functions in relation to progressing their technology towards commercialisations.
