Law firm advises on housing land deal

LAW firm Ward Hadaway has advised on a land deal which aims to pave the way for a major housing development.
Property experts at the UK Top 100 firm advised Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East (part of the Barratt Group) on the acquisition of land at Finningley, near Doncaster.
The acquisition was made jointly with Taylor Wimpey and Peel Land and Property and is part of a Framework Agreement which Barratt Homes made with Peel last year, on which Ward Hadaway also advised Barratt Homes.
Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes aim to build 166 properties on the site over the next five years and are submitting a reserved matters application to Doncaster Borough Council to carry out the development after concluding a public consultation exercise on their plans.
Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes want to develop a wide range of properties on their part of the 14-acre site from two to four-bedroomed units with a mix of detached, semi-detached and terraced homes planned.
Stephen Hawkins, Consultant in the property team at Ward Hadaway, led the firm’s team advising Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes on the land deal.

The innovative Framework Agreement between Barratt and Peel Land and Property was signed last summer.
The agreement initially covered 80 acres of land on six sites with the potential for over 1,000 new homes to be built over five years with a total end value approaching £200m.
