Jenny Walker

Jenny acts on all aspects of commercial property work with a focus on development work (residential, commercial and mixed use schemes) derisking sites for both developers and landowners. Jenny’s specialism is housebuilder matters.

Acquisitions and disposals are at the heart of Jenny’s workload, dealing on a regular basis with conditional sale and purchase agreements, options, building leases, overage and complex funding arrangements. Jenny’s passion is guiding clients through the legal process from cradle to grave, providing initial strategic advice at early stages of the transaction right through to the conclusion of the transaction including preparation for any subsequent sales (in the case of acquisitions). Jenny prides herself on giving clear and concise advice with commercial recommendations.

Jenny’s recent experience includes the following:

• Leading on a £23million subject to planning acquisition for a residential developer client for 290 homes. The site is complicated by issues with chancel repair liability, a wayleave with tricky termination provisions, part of the site being let as allotments and a drainage strategy involving unregistered third party land.
• Working on a number of acquisitions for a plc housebuilder where the site is acquired from a master developer. One of these included complex negotiations around how the different developers on site would work around each other, especially with the master developer who was putting in the site infrastructure.
• Acting on an option agreement for a developer where the option fee was £250,000.
