James is a managing associate in the Health and Care Advisory team, specialising in mental capacity and best interests cases in the Court of Protection, mental health matters and commissioner funding disputes.

James is instructed by various ICBs, NHS trusts and other organisations in relation to a wide range of healthcare matters, particularly in Court of Protection cases.

James specialises in advising clients in the areas of mental capacity, best interests, medical treatment and deprivations of liberty, in the Court of Protection and High Court.

James is also experienced in mental health advisory matters and advises in relation to commissioner funding disputes.

James provides training to clients on, amongst other things, mental capacity, best interest and deprivations of liberty.

Advised and represented clients in respect of welfare matters in the Court of Protection.

Represented acute trusts in medical treatment cases in the Court of Protection and High Court.

Instructed by ICB’s to advise on responsible commissioner and funding disputes.
