Who are Yorkshire’s fastest growing companies?

THE countdown has started to the definitive list of the fastest growing privately-owned companies in Yorkshire as we launch the Ward Hadaway Yorkshire Fastest 50 for 2016.

Sponsored and organised by law firm Ward Hadaway, these awards champion and celebrate the businesses blazing a trail when it comes to growing their companies.

The Yorkshire Fastest 50 identifies and highlights the privately-owned, profit-making companies who have seen the biggest annual expansion in their turnover in recent years.

A definitive list of the 50 fastest growing companies in Yorkshire will be published at the start of March.

Then later that month at a special event, awards will be handed out to the fastest growing small, medium-sized and large businesses, for companies with annual turnover of between £1m and £7.5m, between £7.5m and £15m and turnover of more than £15m respectively.

One of those three winners will then receive the accolade of being crowned Yorkshire’s overall fastest growing business for 2016.

This is the sixth time that the Ward Hadaway Yorkshire Fastest 50 has taken place and the event has become a real fixture on the region’s business calendar.

Since its inception, the event has been organised and sponsored by UK Top 100 law firm Ward Hadaway, whose own operation and influence in Yorkshire has grown considerably since it opened an office in Leeds in summer 2008.

Harmajinder Hayre, Executive Partner for Ward Hadaway’s Leeds office, said: “The Yorkshire Fastest 50 caught the imagination of the region’s business community from the very start so we are delighted to be once again joining forces with the Yorkshire Post to launch the 2016 Awards.

“Since its foundation, the event has proved to be a tremendous showcase for all that is best about business in Yorkshire and the 2016 Yorkshire Fastest 50 promises to be no exception.

“The event highlights and celebrates the ambitious, high-achieving companies who do the region and the country proud and we are looking forward to seeing which businesses and which sectors have prospered most in recent years.

“As with previous years, competition to appear in the final 50 for 2016 and the eventual award winners for this year will have had to register truly exceptional performances to emerge victorious.”

The Yorkshire Fastest 50 2016 is being compiled by independent economic researchers at Bradford University School of Management using publicly available data from Companies House.

The data will then be verified before the definitive list is published in the Yorkshire Post at the start of March.

Greg Wright, deputy business editor of The Yorkshire Post, will introduce the Ward Hadaway Yorkshire Fastest 50 Awards 2016 ceremony.

He said: “As a newspaper, we have always believed in banging the drum about the best that Yorkshire has to offer and the Yorkshire Fastest 50 enables us to do just that.

“The awards provide a focal point for our region’s businesses to demonstrate the qualities which make them not just successes in their own right but world-class companies.

“Ward Hadaway have done a terrific job in backing and organising the Yorkshire Fastest 50 right from the very beginning since and we are grateful for their continuing support in 2016.”

“The Yorkshire Fastest 50 enables those efforts to be seen and celebrated by those companies’ peers and by the wider public, underlining the major contribution the business world makes to people’s lives across the region.

“As the Government continues to champion the idea of a Northern Powerhouse, it is businesses such as those found in the Yorkshire Fastest 50 who are making that idea a reality and we look forward to congratulating the pace-setters of 2016 soon.”Fastest 50 Yorkshire logo
