Ward Hadaway retains place on top NHS framework
26th May 2017
LAW firm Ward Hadaway has retained its place on one of the most important NHS frameworks in the country.
The firm, which has offices in Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester, has been reappointed by NHS Resolution to provide legal advice to organisations across the NHS on both defending clinical negligence and on regulatory, health and disciplinary matters for the next four years.
Ward Hadaway is one of only eight law firms across the country to be chosen by NHS Resolution for both of these areas and was picked following a competitive tender exercise.
Jeffrey Keeble (pictured), Partner and Head of Healthcare at Ward Hadaway, said: “We are delighted to have again been chosen by NHS Resolution to continue carrying out this important work for NHS organisations across the country.
“The appointment brings with it great responsibility in terms of advising on cases and incidents affecting patients, clinicians and managers across the health service.
“However, our experienced and knowledgeable team has spent many years working in the sector and is ready to use all of its expertise to help deal with these often complex and challenging cases.”
Ward Hadaway has advised NHS Resolution – previously known as the NHS Litigation Authority – for almost 20 years on clinical negligence, regulatory, health and disciplinary matters.
The firm has more than 70 lawyers across its three offices who specialise in the healthcare sector and advise NHS organisations.
The NHS Resolution appointment comes just a month after Ward Hadaway was chosen by the North of England Commercial Procurement Collaborative (NOE CPC) to offer its legal services to all members of the CPC for the next four years.
Ward Hadaway was given the highest ranking in terms of the quality of its submission of all the 12 firms chosen to appear on the panel.
The firm can now offer its legal services to the 82 organisations who are members of NOE CPC and who buy goods and services via the procurement collaborative.
NOE CPC is hosted by Leeds and York Partnerships NHS Foundation Trust and provides collaborative and bespoke procurement solutions to the public sector.
Members include NHS Foundation Trusts and Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in locations ranging from the Essex to the North East as well as Health Education England.
In 2015, Ward Hadaway won a place on the legal panel of NHS Commercial Solutions, part of one of the largest NHS procurement partnerships in England.
Ward Hadaway was one of only nine law firms in the country chosen to provide advice on a total of nine different areas including primary care, mental health law, corporate and commercial law, employment law and property law.
NHS Commercial Solutions is part of the NHS Commercial Alliance, which provides procurement support for around 70 different NHS organisations, mainly in the East and South East of England, helping them to maximize their spending.
Ward Hadaway was chosen by NHS Commercial Alliance for a four-year appointment following a competitive tender process.
The firm is also on the legal panels for NHS Shared Business Services, NHS Business Services Authority, North of England CCG Legal Service Framework and NHS London Procurement Partnership.
Ward Hadaway currently provides legal support to more than 70 NHS organisations across England in locations ranging from the Scottish Borders to Cornwall.
Managing Partner Jamie Martin said: “These appointments underline the extensive nature of our NHS and healthcare practice and we are delighted to be reappointed by NHS Resolution.”
