Lawyers from the firm’s Corporate and Commercial teams provided legal advice to the shareholders of Atomhawk Design on its sale to Sumo Digital.

Based in Gateshead, Atomhawk provides marketing art, production design and motion graphics for leading players in the film, games and media industries.

The company, which was set up in 2009, works for clients including Marvel, Microsoft, Warner Brothers, Sony, Lego and Amazon.

Ward Hadaway partners Richard Butts and Matt Cormack led the firm’s team advising Atomhawk on its sale to Sumo Digital, supported by Corporate Solicitor Clare French.

The law firm has previously advised Atomhawk on commercial and property issues.
Matt Cormack said: “We are delighted to have assisted the shareholders of Atomhawk on the company’s successful sale to Sumo Digital.

“Atomhawk has deservedly won global recognition for the quality of its work for some of the leading international companies in its sector.

“We wish the company well in its exciting new future under the ownership of Sumo Digital.”

As part of the deal, Atomhawk will continue to operate as an autonomous business with the same management and creative teams.

Ron Ashtiani, managing director at Atomhawk, said: “This investment and strategic support enables us to realise our ambitions to drive Atomhawk forward – expanding the creative services we offer and the imminent opening of a second studio in North America.

“We’d like to thank the team at Ward Hadaway for their work advising us on this important strategic move for the company. They did an excellent and thoroughly professional job to help ensure that the deal reflected what we wanted for the future of the business.”
