The 60-strong team at the Top 100 law firm, which has offices in Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester, was reappointed to the framework following a competitive tender process.

The appointment means that Ward Hadaway can deliver services to NHS Trusts and other organisations that are part of the NHS SBS framework across the country.

Ward Hadaway was reappointed to all 11 lots tendered by NHS SBS covering legal practice areas, including advice on NHS governance, primary care services, healthcare law, advice on employment, property, contract and commercial law projects.

The firm was given the highest ranking in nine out of 11 of the categories in terms of the quality of its submission.

The appointment will be initially for two years from June 1, 2018, with an option to extend for a further two years.

Ward Hadaway is currently on a number of NHS legal frameworks, including HealthTrust Europe, a purchasing body for the healthcare sector that provides support to more than 400 public and private sector organisations, NHS Commercial Alliance, which provides procurement support for around 70 different NHS organisations to help them maximise their spending and NHS Resolution to provide legal advice to organisations across the NHS on defending clinical negligence claims as well as on regulatory, health and disciplinary matters.

Last year, Ward Hadaway was also appointed to the North of England Commercial Procurement Collaborative (NOE CPC) to offer its legal services to all members of the CPC for four years.

The firm offers its legal services to the 82 organisations who are members of NOE CPC and who buy goods and services via the procurement collaborative.

Jeffrey Keeble, partner and Head of Healthcare, said: “We are exceptionally proud to have secured a place on this prestigious framework for the second time and also achieve a top score for the quality of our submission in so many of the categories.

“This latest appointment to the NHS SBS legal services framework in our 30th anniversary year demonstrates our continued commitment and support in helping our clients increase efficiency and make cost-savings.”

Earlier this year, Ward Hadaway’s healthcare team was recognised in the Legal Week Innovation Awards for the team’s role in implementing an online tool to help those within the NHS identify new ways of working and increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Jeffrey added: “We are delighted to receive national recognition for our innovative work across the healthcare sector as we continue to grow as a business.”
