Ward Hadaway advises on Communisis acquisition
6th September, 2013
LAW firm Ward Hadaway has advised on a multi-million pound acquisition for leading marketing services provider Communisis plc.
The firm provided legal advice to Communisis on the acquisition of Editions Publishing Ltd, the UK’s leading content marketing agency for the financial services sector.
Editions Publishing Limited, which trades as Editions Financial (EF), has delivered over 2,000 projects for more than 33 financial brands over 14 years.
The Edinburgh-based company has a 31-strong team of specialist writers, designers, digital experts, content strategists, BAFTA-winning broadcasters and marketing specialists and works with major financial brands to develop their content strategies.
It then implements the strategy by providing a co-ordinated content marketing delivery service in all key channels including copywriting, video production, digital content, print and digital magazines, ezines, social media, event content and front line sales collateral.
The acquisition of EF is in line with Communisis’ strategy of acquiring businesses in specialist complementary areas.
Communisis says EF will add considerable skill and experience in content marketing to the group’s Design segment capabilities and strengthen its leading position in the strategically important financial services sector.
Andy Blundell, Communisis Chief Executive, said: “As the UK’s leading content marketing agency within the financial services sector, Editions Financial is a clear strategic fit with the Group’s aspiration to broaden and deepen its service offering. The acquisition also strengthens our already strong position in the financial services sector.”
A team led by Ward Hadaway Partner and Head of Corporate Martin Hulls provided legal advice to Communisis plc on the acquisition, with support from the UK Top 100 law firm’s employment and commercial departments.
Martin Hulls said: “We are delighted to have assisted Communisis plc on this acquisition which further strengthen and widens the company’s comprehensive service offering and reinforces its position as a leading supplier into the financial services sector.”
This latest acquisition follows on from a trio of acquisitions that Ward Hadaway advised Communisis on last year.
Communisis delivers a range of marketing services to private and public sector clients in a wide range of sectors including financial services, retail, consumer goods, travel and leisure, utilities and communications.
As well as its headquarters in London, Communisis also has operations in 11 other UK towns and cities, including Leeds, Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester, Nottingham, Glasgow and Bath.
