Sophie is a second year Trainee Solicitor in our Real Estate team, based in our Newcastle office.
Previously on secondment at Newcastle United Football Club, Sophie has varied experience from undertaking research tasks in niche areas of law, to negotiating and drafting commercial agreements on behalf of the Club.
Prior to that, Sophie sat in the Construction and Engineering Team where she worked on a mixture of both contentious and non-contentious matters. Her non-contentious work involved drafting construction documents, including preparing Consultant’s appointments and collateral warranties and working with other parties to negotiate amendments to the contract documents. Sophie also assisted in the preparation for several adjudications, attended an in-person mediation and also assisted in the preparation of disclosure documents for a high value litigated matter.
Sophie has volunteered at a local primary school as part of the ‘On the up’ scheme, to help upskill children in socially deprived areas and currently volunteers as a mentor on Gateshead College Mentoring Scheme, helping those in college to prepare for a career in law.
She is also an active member of Ward Hadaway’s Environment committee, which works collectively across all departments to drive sustainability and maintain our Carbon Reduction plan.
Outside of the firm, Sophie is a member of the Women Lawyer’s Division and also the Young Professional’s Forum, attending networking with young professionals working within Newcastle. She will soon be joining the Young Professional’s Forum committee to help organise and run the events.
