Clare is a Director in the Planning team and has over 17 years' experience of advising on a wide range of planning, highways and compulsory purchase projects. Clare has particular expertise in advising on the delivery of complex public sector regeneration schemes and compulsory purchase orders.

Clare advises on the full range of planning, highways and compulsory purchase matters including:

  • Planning obligations;
  • Deeds of variation;
  • All aspects of planning applications including; appeals, enforcement, injunctions, judicial review and other statutory challenges;
  • Planning policy, including the adoption of local and neighbourhood plans,
  • Highways and public rights of way including stopping up orders, definitive map modification orders and traffic orders.
  • Compulsory purchase orders.

Experience

Clare’s experience includes:

  • Leading the team responsible for the successful confirmation of a retail compulsory purchase order which secured the redevelopment of the area to provide employment and retail opportunities on derelict land.
  • Acting as lead solicitor in respect of the successful adoption of a Local Plan for a County Council.
  • Successfully securing an injunction requiring the demolition of an unauthorised development.
  • Successfully defending numerous judicial reviews, including a challenge to a decision by a local authority to grant planning permission for its new headquarters.
  • Advising on complex section 106 planning obligations, including in respect of a green belt release scheme for over 1000 dwellings.
  • Advising local government bodies on various high profile matters including development consent orders and other major regeneration projects.
