Ward Hadaway wins place on major council legal panel

LAW firm Ward Hadaway has won a place on a major local authority legal panel in Yorkshire.

The firm, which has offices in Leeds, Newcastle and Manchester, has been appointed to the West Yorkshire Legal Framework for the next three years.

Ward Hadaway has been selected as one of only a handful of firms to provide organisations with advice in nine areas of law covering everything from childcare and community law through to employment and pensions law and public health.

The local authorities who can access the firm’s services via the West Yorkshire Legal Framework are Leeds City Council, West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Kirklees Metropolitan Council, City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council and Wakefield Council. The City of York Council is also a participant within the framework.

In addition, a wide range of other organisations in the Yorkshire and Humberside region can access legal services via the framework including schools, academies, colleges, health organisations, central government departments and National Park Authorities.

Ward Hadaway was appointed to the West Yorkshire Legal Framework following a competitive tender exercise.

The full range of areas which Ward Hadaway has been chosen to provide advice is as follows: childcare law; adult social services and community care law; general litigation; general conveyancing and routine property work; general contracts, commercial and IT; planning; local government law and corporate governance; employment and pensions law and public health.

Ward Hadaway has a long track record of providing legal services and support to local authorities across the country in areas including the North East, the Midlands and London.

The firm’s public sector commercial team, which advises on commercial, corporate projects, governance, vires and procurement issues, is the 2017 Corporate INTL Global Awards PFI Law Firm of the Year, having won the same award for 2016, 2014 and 2013.

The team won Corporate & Commercial Team of the Year in the 2016 Northern Law Awards and was shortlisted for the Commercial Team of the Year Award at the British Legal Awards 2016.
