Procurement in a Nutshell – Scottish Procurement Policy Note 1/2020

Following the UK's departure from the EU on 31 January 2020, the Scottish Government have published a Scottish Procurement Policy Note 1/2020.

The purpose of this note is to set out the arrangements that will apply to public procurement in Scotland. The Policy Note contains the following key points:

  • Although the UK has now left the EU, EU law, including on procurement, will continue to apply to the UK until 31 December 2020.
  • There will be no immediate change to public procurement law in Scotland before 31 December 2020, and public buyers should continue their normal purchasing activity. This includes advertising in the Official Journal of the EU (OJEU), through the Public Contracts Scotland website.
  • The Scottish Government will provide further guidance on what is expected to happen after 31 December 2020, later this year.

This reflects the position in England.

We shall provide any further updates as and when they are released.
