Ryder Architecture welcomes back regional charity event Oktoberfest

International design practice Ryder alongside sponsors Hydrock and Ward Hadaway will host an evening of German beer, food and entertainment in aid of Newcastle United Foundation and Headway Tyneside.

The event to be held on 7 October at Wylam Brewery, Exhibition Park, will see all proceeds from tickets and fundraising on the evening go directly to Newcastle United Foundation and Headway Tyneside.  Marking four years since the last edition of Oktoberfest took place, Ryder are proud and excited to bring north east businesses back together again to raise money for these important charities.

As well as customary German food and drink, throughout the evening guests will be able to enjoy live music, take part in a silent auction and have the chance to win raffle prizes such as match day tickets for Newcastle United and Newcastle Falcons.

Ahead of the event, James Lowdon, business development coordinator at Ryder said, “Following a tumultuous time for hosting in person events, the return of Oktoberfest is a special moment for Ryder and the event’s sponsors.  As a business, Ryder is passionate about supporting local charities such as Newcastle United Foundation and Headway Tyneside.  We are absolutely thrilled to be able to host the event this year and importantly, raise as much awareness and support as possible for these charities.”

Run by a voluntary committee and a community development officer, Headway Tyneside work with people affected by brain injury to develop services and raise awareness of brain injury throughout the community.

Alistair McDonald, business development manager for the built environment at Ward Hadaway and voluntary chair of Headway Tyneside said, “At Ward Hadaway we are delighted to work with Ryder and Hydrock to support this great event.  As chair of Headway Tyneside I know first hand how much our service users have been impacted by the pandemic, in addition our ability to raise funds has been affected, so it’s brilliant that we can get together to raise funds for local charities.”

Chris Chennell, director at Hydrock in Newcastle said, “We are really excited to team up with Ryder to support this fantastic fundraising event.  As an engineering and sustainability consultancy, we are growing our presence in the north east and working closely with Ryder on a number of schemes both locally and much further afield.  As a business, supporting community based charities in our local areas is very important to us, and we are looking forward to this event and helping the Foundation and Headway raise valuable funds.”

Using the city and region’s passion for football, the Newcastle United Foundation are improving the lives of almost 50,000 people in the local community across their football, school and community programmes.

Speaking about the upcoming Oktoberfest event, Steve Beharall, head of Newcastle United Foundation said, “Ryder’s Oktoberfest events are always well attended and are a brilliant way to raise funds for charities in the region.  I would like to thank Ryder for their continued support of Newcastle United Foundation at this event, with all donations contributing to help us change lives, improve the region’s physical and mental health and support young people in becoming more employable.  Our vision is to create a united community full of pride, passion and potential and Ryder continue to play a key part in supporting us to achieve our ambition.”

Ryder hope to welcome as many local businesses as possible to the event.  Each ticket will include a food and two drinks tokens. Tickets are available to purchase online through Eventbrite.
