Greater Manchester Fastest 50 2015 guest speaker revealed
15th January, 2015
BBC Breakfast's face of business, Steph McGovern, will be the guest speaker at the Greater Manchester Fastest 50 2015 Awards next month.
She will be making the short journey from the BBC Breakfast studios on Salford Quays to the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester on Friday 27 February to make the keynote speech at the event, which is organised in association with law firm Ward Hadaway and highlights the achievements of the region’s fastest growing companies.
Steph is an award-winning presenter who has been working in financial journalism for over 10 years and has been part of the BBC Breakfast team since 2012.
She travels all over the UK and overseas to cover economic and business news for the BBC and since joining Breakfast has broadcast live from over 200 businesses.
Before becoming part of the BBC Breakfast team, Steph worked as lead producer of business news on the BBC’s One, Six and Ten O’Clock news bulletins and has also been the main producer for daily financial news on BBC Radio 4’s flagship Today programme.
She regularly stands in as a main presenter on BBC Breakfast and 5Live and also presents specialist factual shows for Radio 4.
Steph will be meeting representatives of the region’s fastest growing companies at the Greater Manchester Fastest 50 Awards 2015 in February.
The awards highlight and celebrate privately owned, profit-making businesses in Greater Manchester and the surrounding area which have grown their turnover by the largest amount in recent years.
Speaking about her forthcoming appearance, Steph McGovern said: “I’m thrilled to be the guest speaker for the Greater Manchester Fastest 50 Awards and am really looking forward to the event.
“My work on BBC Breakfast is all about bringing the world of business to viewers and conveying the stories behind the headlines so it will be terrific to be able to meet the people behind Greater Manchester’s fast-growing companies and celebrate their successes.
“Being based in Salford, I know how proud business people in this region are about the work which they do and events like this are a great way to highlight Greater Manchester’s strengths and capabilities, especially at a time when the eyes of the country are on the region following the devolution of powers and the ‘Northern Powerhouse’ agenda.”
Jamie Martin, Managing Partner of Greater Manchester Fastest 50 organisers Ward Hadaway, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Steph has accepted our invitation to be guest speaker at the Greater Manchester Fastest 50 Awards for 2015.
“She is very well known in business circles and has rightfully received plaudits for bringing the issues and concerns of the commercial world to a wider audience with approachability and genuine insight.
“The fact that she is based in the region with BBC Breakfast means she is a familiar figure in the area and I am sure she will prove to be a popular speaker at the awards.”
This will be the second year that the Greater Manchester Fastest 50 Awards have taken place, following the inaugural event in 2014.
The awards will see trophies presented to the fastest growing small business, the fastest growing medium-sized business and the fastest growing large business. One of these three award winners will then be crowned the overall fastest growing business for 2015.
Next month will be the first opportunity to discover those companies in contention for the awards when we publish the full A-Z list of the 50 fastest growing companies in Greater Manchester for 2015.
It is from this list that the winners of the awards will be drawn and revealed on February 27.
