Age UK Gateshead – Helping those living with dementia

The challenge

Age UK is one of the UK’s biggest charities for elderly people, providing invaluable support for them in so many different ways.

The charity campaigns to make later life better, invests in vital research and provides services to support tens of thousands of vulnerable, older individuals.

In addition the national charity, there are local Age UK brand partners (independent charities who work under the Age UK name) who form a national network and provide comprehensive support in local communities to try and reach every elderly person in every corner of the UK, providing support that improves their lives. This can only happen through the help of individuals and businesses, and their invaluable donations.

The solution

Our team in Newcastle was keen to partner with Age UK Gateshead to support local community activities that help elderly people in the area.

By working closely with the charity, the team organised fundraising events, raising £1,000 for Age UK Gateshead, which made a significant difference to the lives of local elderly people.

The impact

The funds we raised helped Age UK Gateshead to purchase a multi-sensory touch table for the charity’s day care service which provides vital help to improve the health and wellbeing of those living with dementia.

The money we raised enabled the charity to invest in state-of-the-art technology and equipment everyone can use. Those with dementia particularly benefit because they can play games, access music, and take part in quizzes which help to keep their brains active in fighting against the disease.

Why work with us?

We’re keen to support local initiatives, especially if they help create healthier, happier lives. Whether funding a local event or providing essential resources to the disadvantaged, we want to help and give something back to the communities we serve.

It was a wonderful surprise that Ward Hadaway chose us as a charity they wanted to support and we are blown away by their enthusiasm, creative ideas and desire to help reach as many elderly people as we can in the region, to enrich their lives.
