Procurement in a nutshell – New procurement thresholds

In this Procurement in a Nutshell, we will be looking at the new EU procurement thresholds published by the European Commission on 25 November 2015.

What’s new?

The European Commission has published new thresholds for procurement, effectively reducing the thresholds. From 1 January 2016 the below will apply:

 

Above Threshold Regime

Works – above £4,104,394

Supplies / Services – above £106,047* / £164,176**

 

Light Touch Regime

Schedule 3 Services (including health, social and related services) – above £589,148

 

Below Threshold Regime

Works – between £10,000 and £4,104,394* / £25,000 and £4,104,394**

Supplies / Services – between £10,000 and £106,047* / between £25,000 and £164,176**

N.B For NHS Trusts and the below threshold regime only:

Works – between £25,000 and £4,104,394

Supplies / Services – between £25,000 and £106,047

 

*Central Government Contracting Authorities (including NHS Trusts)

**Sub central Contracting Authorities (including NHS Foundation Trusts, CCGs and local authorities)
