How do we know if an EU national has the right to work?

For the purpose of right to work checks EU nationals fall into three categories:

Those whose employment with you commenced on or before 31 December 2020
Those whose employment with you commenced between 1 January and 30 June 2021
Those whose employment with you commences on or after 1 July 2021

The information that you need and the check that you do will be slightly different for each of these three categories (see below).
