Tech Nation Visa Event – the lowdown

We were delighted to welcome public, private sector, national and international businesses to our Tech Nation Visa event yesterday that was hosted by Digital Union.

The event focused on the experiences of those who have come through the scheme and was an opportunity for local businesses, entrepreneurs and organisations to ask questions and learn more about hiring talent from overseas to fill their vacant tech roles.

Flora Mewies, an associate in the Employment team at Ward Hadaway, said: “We agree with the views of the panellists today that this visa isn’t as unobtainable as it may first appear, but it’s a case of investing time and effort into the preparation of the application and highlighting key skills and achievements. This is where we can assist as experts who have prepared numerous applications and successfully helped candidates obtain their visa, bring their dependants to the UK and ultimately apply for indefinite leave to remain in the UK and settle here permanently.”

The Tech Nation Visa Scheme makes it possible for tech talent from around the world to come and work in the UK’s digital technology sector and is part of Tech City UK’s mission to ensure that the UK continues to maintain its position as a globally competitive digital economy.

We have been working with Tech North for the last two years as sole immigration advisors for the North and were pleased to raise further awareness of the Tier 1 Exceptional Talent visa and continue to provide support to applicants and employers.
