Specialist property team plots further success

THE specialist "plot sales team" at North law firm Ward Hadaway is aiming for further growth this year after clocking up more than 2,600 completed transactions over the past 12 months.

Acting for a number of the UK’s leading housebuilders, the team successfully completed the sale of 2,062 new homes in the 12 months to the end of April 2015 at new development sites across the North, from the Scottish borders down to South Yorkshire and stretching west across to North Wales.

Ward Hadaway’s 19-strong plot sales team is one of the largest in the North of England with team members based at all three of the firm’s offices in Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester.

As well as plot sales work (the sale of newly completed homes for housebuilder clients), the specialist team also deals with part exchange transactions, where the buyer of the new home is selling their existing home to the housebuilder.

In the year to the end of April 2015, the team successfully completed over 300 part-exchange acquisitions for housebuilder clients and a further 220 onward sales of these properties to new buyers.

This means that in just 12 months, the team worked on in excess of 2,600 separate transactions – an average of over 10 transactions successfully completed every working day.

Lesley Fairclough, Partner and Head of Development at Ward Hadaway, said: “Our plot sales team is renowned in the housebuilding sector – and with very good reason.

“The past year has seen another tremendous number of transactions successfully completed but we never forget that as well as an important investment in time and money on the part of the housebuilder each one of these transactions represents someone’s home so we strive to ensure that we give the same level of care and attention to detail in all of them.

“As the pace of development in the housebuilding sector continues to increase and the demand for quality new homes rises, we are ready to take on the challenge of helping our housebuilder clients continue to pursue their business goals and targets and ensure their customers get a speedy and efficient service when buying a new home.”

During the course of the past year, the plot sales team has worked on a wide range of developments – both freehold and leasehold – as well as dealing with more complex legal structures or estate set-ups, some involving sales and marketing agents and Government and other funding initiatives.
