Partner appointment further strengthens Commercial team

ONE of the region's leading lawyers with a national reputation for his work has joined Ward Hadaway.

Phil Tompkins vert Oct13Phil Tompkins (pictured) joins the Top 100 UK law firm’s Company and Commercial team after more than 15 years’ specialist experience advising clients on commercial contracts, data protection issues and IT/technology contracts.

He has a wide range of experience in the manufacturing, energy and automotive sectors with particular expertise on IT and technology issues.

Phil has worked with a variety of clients in the private and public sectors and has advised on a number of outsourcing, facilities management and services arrangements.

He has a wealth of experience in all aspects of IT and technology law including advising on IT outsourcing arrangements (including offshoring), cloud software solutions, escrow agreements and software licensing, support and maintenance issues.

Phil is an acknowledged expert on information law and has extensive experience on data protection and freedom of information.

He delivers the Freedom of Information module on the Masters degree in information rights law at Northumbria University and is the co-editor of the Information Sharing handbook (2009) published by the Law Society.

On his appointment at Ward Hadaway, Phil said: “Ward Hadaway is a firm which I am very familiar with, having worked in the North East legal sector for a number of years, and it has always had a superb reputation for the quality of its work and its people so I am delighted to be joining the firm.
