National healthcare appointment for Ward Hadaway

LAW firm Ward Hadaway has won a place on a national panel to provide advice on a range of issues to NHS organisations.

After a hotly contested competition, Ward Hadaway has been chosen to advise members of NHS Commercial Solutions, part of one of the largest NHS procurement partnerships in England.

The firm is one of only nine in the country to provide advice on a total of nine different areas including primary care, mental health law, corporate and commercial law, employment law and property law.

Ward Hadaway will also be able to advise NHS organisations on PFI and PPP projects, NHS governance and public law, health law and on tasks requiring a combination of these different advice areas.

NHS Commercial Solutions is part of the NHS Commercial Alliance, which provides procurement support for around 70 different NHS organisations, mainly in the East and South East of England, helping them to maximize their spending.

The organisation also offers benchmarking and data analysis to NHS bodies as well as consultancy services for healthcare projects.

Ward Hadaway was chosen by NHS Commercial Alliance for a four-year appointment following a keenly contested competitive tender process.

Jeffrey Keeble, Partner and Head of Healthcare at Ward Hadaway, said: “We are delighted to have secured a place on this prestigious panel.

“NHS Commercial Solutions is a major provider of procurement solutions and other services to a wide range of different organisations, including Acute NHS Trusts and Mental Health & Social Care Trusts, so to be appointed as one of only nine firms nationally to provide legal advice on all practice areas is a terrific endorsement of the quality, expertise and experience of our healthcare team.

“It is also a demonstration of the firm’s national reach and reputation that we have been chosen to appear on the legal panel of an organisation which serves NHS bodies in the East and South East of England.”

The appointment is the latest in a series of significant wins for Ward Hadaway in the healthcare sector.

In November 2013, the firm won a place on the NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) legal services framework.

That appointment means that Ward Hadaway can provide legal advice to NHS Trusts and other organisations that are NHS SBS clients across England including a number who are located in the North East, North West, Yorkshire and Humberside, London and the South West.

As well as advising national organisations within the NHS, Ward Hadaway currently provides legal advice to more than 75 NHS Trusts across England, at locations from the Scottish Borders to Cornwall and Kent.

The firm was also named as PFI Law Firm of the Year 2014, after winning the same award in 2013.
