Steven is a consultant in Ward Hadaway’s Insolvency and Corporate Recovery team based in Leeds.

He also leads the International Debt Recovery Unit which specialises in international debt recovery primarily for the export credit insurers of a number of countries and also for commercial debt collection agencies and creditors worldwide.

He is a member of the Commercial Law League of America ( and sits on the editorial board of its publication The Commercial World), the International Association of Commercial Collectors and the League International for Creditors.

Steven is the author of a number of books on insolvency law and court procedure and the General Editor of Insolvency Intelligence (since its first publication in 1988) and for many years was a Licensed Insolvency practitioner (only giving up his licence when the SRA ceased to license solicitors).

He acts in insolvency matters on a national basis and is well known both locally and nationally.

He has been a Notary Public since 1986.


Steven has lectured extensively nationally and internationally on insolvency and debt recovery topics. He has been a Deputy District Judge of the High Court and County Court.

Steven’s strength is in his analytical approach to all problems and a desire to find a solution rather than concentrating on what cannot be done.
