Chris has more than 40 years' legal and commercial property experience.

He has acted for housebuilders, NHS organisations, educational institutions and local authorities and regeneration agencies, specialising in development work since 1988.

Chris joined Ward Hadaway in 2006 from Eversheds, where he had held a number of senior positions including Regional Managing Partner and the National Head of their residential development team.

He is the author of three editions of a book on Business Tenancies and has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Northumbria.

In recent years, Chris has developed his expertise in professional ethics and regulation and advised the firm in this area.


Chris has extensive experience of development work particularly in relation to housing, health, education, leisure and mixed use.

He is experienced in regeneration work , and has worked on a number of public and private sector projects including PFI projects.

He has dealt with a large number of housing schemes and major developments in the education and local government sectors.

Chris is an experienced lecturer and during 2019 is the President of the Newcastle Law Society.
