The awards celebrate the success of the digital and tech industry in Leeds and the wider city region over the last year. The thriving scene is not only home to start-ups and SMEs, but also much larger businesses where tech is at the heart of everything they do.

The awards celebrate the organisations and individuals who are driving the vibrant industry.

They are an opportunity for everyone in Leeds to have their say and celebrate the people and organisations they believe deserve recognition for their contribution to the digital sector in the city.

Awards open for nominations this year are:

•              Entrepreneur of the year

•              Facilitator of the year

•              One to watch 2019

•              Start-up of the year

•              Tech innovation of the year

•              Tech4Good

•              Growth company of the year.

The final shortlisted nominees will be judged by a panel of experts in the Leeds digital and business sectors. Judges include Chelsea Hardy of Nexus, Deb Hetherington of Leeds Beckett University, The Yorkshire Post’s Deputy Business Editor, Greg Wright, 2018’s winner of Entrepreneur of the Year Alex Craven, as well as award sponsors Andrew Maeer of Amsource Technology and Gareth Yates, a Commercial Partner at Ward Hadaway law firm.

Andrew Maeer, Managing Director of Amsource Technology, said: “The Leeds Digital Festival Awards provides a fantastic platform to shout about all that is great about the tech scene in Leeds, in what is one of the largest gatherings of digital and technology events in the UK.”

Leeds Digital Festival co-founder and Director, Stuart Clarke, added: “The Leeds Digital Festival was set up with two aims: to celebrate the amazing individuals and companies in the digital sector in Leeds, and to encourage collaboration. I’m looking forward to another great evening.”

Gareth Yates said: “The technology sector is one we are delighted to support through our sponsorship of the annual Leeds Digital Festival which we have done for the past three years.

“In our first year, we were part of a ‘Women in Tech’ event with WISE, the second year focused on Edu-Tech and last year, we co-founded and sponsored the very first Leeds Digital Festival Awards. We are delighted to be doing this again for 2019 with the second year of the Leeds Digital Festival Awards.”

Gareth Yates and the firm’s Commercial team have demonstrated their responsiveness to the region by providing forward-thinking guidance to businesses and educational establishments on GDPR.

Gareth was also involved in the first ever Global Digital Week last year and took part in a panel discussion at the University of Leeds on how technology impacts upon data protection laws.

This year’s awards will be held at Headrow House in Leeds City Centre on Tuesday, 30th April 2019.

Nominations will close on Friday 15th March.
