Mo Isap, our Greater Manchester Fastest 50 speaker and CEO of IN4.0 Group, shares his top five tips for business success.
You have to believe in what you’re doing. In business there are as many low points are there are high points. If you’re not passionate about what you’re doing and not passionate about your business, you won’t make the sacrifices and get through the challenges that inevitably happen. People ‘buy’ people who have a passion for what they believe in. As an entrepreneur you need to communicate passion, in the first instance it’s the only thing your client and partners will see!
Have cleverer people in your team
You can’t be an expert in everything. The gift of an entrepreneur is to be able to find solutions to problems that need fixing and to ensure that you have people who have the talent and skills to help you achieve that. You have to be confident and have people in your team with expertise that go beyond yours to deliver outcomes.
Find a way to do both – ‘and’ instead of ‘or’
We are conditioned to make choices and decisions and as business people we are taught to be decisive. I believe we make false decisions unnecessarily – it’s either one or the other. Whereas there may be a third way. Don’t be rushed into making a false decision where there may have been a way to do both.
The key to success as an entrepreneur is to develop partnerships and find ways of collaborating. To scale you need to collaborate, whether it’s with partners, customers or funders, you can never be an island. You need the capability to develop mutually beneficial relationships.
Hard work and sacrifice
Without hard work and sacrifice, nothing happens. Be ready to make sacrifices, commit and work hard. There’s no easy route in business, people may think it’s a fast track to success but I don’t believe that’s the case. You need to make sacrifices and be prepared to graft!
