Training: How to support a successful investigation
02nd December 2020
Ward Hadaway are pleased to run this free training session for HR professionals working at NHS Trusts, CCGs and other NHS bodies.
Supporting an investigation, such as a dismissal, grievance or complaint, is an all too frequent event in the life of an HR professional. This session is aimed to update you on the dos and don’ts, the things to look out for and the things to avoid based on the latest guidance to help you provide skilled HR advice to the Case Investigator and ensure a fair and robust investigation process. Whether relatively new in the role or a seasoned professional, it will inform, refresh and challenge you and your colleagues. The online training session is to be held on 2nd December from 10am to midday. Click here to register for free.
The session is being provided exclusively for those working in the NHS. It will be delivered by three specialists at Ward Hadaway who work exclusively on healthcare employment matters, meaning all the experience and advice they share is designed specifically for this sector.
The interactive session will begin with a 20 minute round up of the key features of an investigation, the latest case law and other background. In advance of the event, we will ask you to review a case study of a complex grievance which we have drafted for these purposes, and so after the initial roundup we will split up into virtual breakout rooms. There we will discuss this case study in detail, asking for your critical thinking around allegations, policies, interview techniques and documentation, and ultimately how to help support keeping your investigation on track. We will then reconvene as a group to share findings, and reach consensus around the core learning points. We will then breakout again to deep-dive into one or two specific complications to an investigation, such as the involvement of the police, to explore how to absorb and respond to such challenges. Finally we will again reconvene, review and wrap up. We are happy to share some of the learning materials from the course afterwards.
This interactive and very practical course has been recently updated to incorporate some of the latest recommendations and our own experiences. This is an open session to which anyone working within the NHS is more than welcome to attend for free – click here to register. We are also happy to consider running this course exclusively for your own organisation and team – please do contact us to discuss such an opportunity.
