Human Factors: What can we learn from the aviation industry? (NEWCASTLE)
08th November 2016
Access to free, high quality care that is safe, clinically effective and which results in a positive experience for patients is the primary purpose of the NHS. Ensuring that this is delivered can place you and your team under pressure, with the potential to impact on quality of care.
With Human Factors continuing to be a hot topic in the NHS, Ward Hadaway’s expert Healthcare Team is delighted to invite you to this free half-day workshop at Crowne Plaza Newcastle on Tuesday 8th November, 9.30am – 1.30pm, where we will be joined by Duncan Trapp, Vice President of Safety & Quality at CHC Helicopter, and Ian Martin, Medical Director of City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust to examine lessons that can be learnt from the aviation industry.
With Duncan and Ian, we will also hear from Ward Hadaway’s Head of Healthcare, Jeffrey Keeble
Aimed at clinicians, hospital managers and board members, this session will look at ways to minimise and mitigate human frailties in order to reduce errors and at the importance of the identification, assessment and management of patient safety risks.
Topics to be covered will include:
- Blame and just cultures
- Teamwork and hierarchies
- Investigations and reporting
- Briefing and debriefing
- Application of lessons from aviation
