Housing Management Law School – Spring 2017 (LEEDS)
10th May 2017
It's time for colleagues to return to the classroom for the free Ward Hadaway Housing Management Law Schools taking place across Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester in May.
This will be the ninth semester in our series of Law Schools and Spring term will bring with it a brand new programme, with our experts covering up to the minute topics.
The Law School exists to deliver training to Registered Providers of Social Housing across the country and to educate and update their housing management staff with the legal knowledge that they need.
These sessions will deliver:
Housing Law News Round Up
What’s happened, what’s about to happen and what might happen.
Hot Topic: Warrants Masterclass
The Court of Appeal in Cardiff CC v Lee threw the cat amongst the pigeons with a decision that made clear that for years, housing practitioners and the Courts themselves had been following the wrong process when applying for warrants to execute suspended possession orders. It’s timely therefore to review practice and procedures in applying for warrants, and dealing with suspension applications
Revision Topic: Property Condition
The costs of managing properties in poor condition are high in terms of officer time, health and safety risks to tenants and neighbours, and capital costs of refurbishment. This revision class will examine how to manage these situations, and what legal action can be taken to gain access and to enforce provisions when all else has failed.
