Housing Management Law School – Autumn 2015 (NEWCASTLE)
25th November 2015
It's time for colleagues to return to the classroom for the free Ward Hadaway Housing Management Law School taking place at our Newcastle Sandgate House office on Wednesday 25th November, 8.30am - 11.45am.
This will be the sixth semester for our series of Law Schools. Autumn term sees a brand new programme, with our experts covering up to the minute topics. There will also be a chance to brush up on existing skills.
The Law School exists to deliver training to Registered Providers of Social Housing across the country and to educate and update their housing management staff with the legal knowledge that they need.
The session will deliver:
Housing Law News Round Up
What’s happened, what’s about to happen and what might happen.
Hot Topic: Assured Shorthold and Starter Tenancies: the New Regime
Examining in detail the amendments brought in for Notices Seeking Possession by the Deregulation Act 2015 and what amendments Registered Providers will need to make to their policies and procedures.
Revision Session: Vexatious Complainants: Every organisation can have challenging customers
Given the importance of housing to people’s quality of life and wellbeing, disputes and grievances can become emotionally charged battlefields between tenants and housing management, seemingly without end or satisfaction to either party. Dealing with a vexatious complainant can be time consuming, stressful and counter productive to front line and senior level staff. This session will consider management and legal tools designed to assist Registered Providers to deal with such situations in a fair and effective way.
