General Data Protection Regulation in Education – are you ready? (NEWCASTLE)
13th July 2017
Join us at this free seminar presented by education specialist information law experts where we will discuss new General Data Protection Regulation and what it means for your Academy Trust or School.
The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is just a year away. The legislation sets new responsibilities in areas such as child consent, corporate governance and reporting of compliance breaches. So what does it mean for your Academy Trust or School and how should you prepare for its introduction?
The General Data Protection Regulation will be in force from 25th May 2018. The new law will entirely replace the current Data Protection Act 1998, radically overhauling our existing data protection rules and bringing significant resource issues and much stiffer penalties if breached.
Join us at this free breakfast seminar where we will provide you with an essential update on the key issues including:
• What does GDPR mean to my organisation?
• What do we need to know about managing pupil and staff data?
• What risks arise from pupil profiling?
• What level of responsibility is held by the Board?
• What is DfE doing to assure compliance in the Cloud?
• What are the responsibilities of the Data Protection Officer role and should we outsource the role?
• What will constitute a data breach, and what will I be required to do?
This seminar will provide a perfect opportunity to find out the latest on this significant change in legislation and what it means for you. During the session, you will also have the opportunity to raise questions with each speaker as well as to discuss the issues with your peers during the coffee breaks.
The seminar is directed at senior executives and leadership team members. Chairs and Non-Executives will find this event a valuable introduction to their board level responsibilities.
