Commissioning and contracting – the do’s and don’ts (Newcastle)
23rd October 2014
We are delighted to invite you to our free seminar for GP Federations and Clinical Commissioning Groups which is taking place at our Newcastle office on Thursday 23rd October, 1.30pm - 4.30pm.
GP practices around the country are forming federations in order to deliver services more effectively. Federations represent an opportunity for innovative service delivery, and will often be the providers best placed to deliver certain services for patients. However, uncertainty about the procurement rules and concern about conflicts of interest can hamper their discussions with CCGs. This workshop is a perfect opportunity for both federations and CCGs to gain a better understanding of the NHS procurement regime, and how their organisations can work together for mutual benefit without breaching the rules.
As well as hearing from Ward Hadaway’s legal experts Alison Oliver and Sarah Podesta, we are also delighted to have Scott McKenzie, Healthcare Consultant at BW Medical Accountants, speaking at the seminar. Scott has worked in the healthcare sector for over 17 years. He is now widely recognised as a leading provider of specialist support to NHS organisations and independent healthcare providers on all aspects of service transformation, commissioning and service provision.
Drawing on their experience, our speakers will discuss topics including:
- How can CCGs get the best out of GP federations while meeting their legal obligations?
- What do GP federations need to do to improve their chances of winning contracts?
- What might contracting arrangements for federations look like, and what alternative models are emerging?
1.30pm – Registration and lunch
2.00pm – Presentations
4.30pm – Networking and close
Lunch will be provided on arrival and free parking is available just next door to our office.
We hope that you will be able to join us and look forward to seeing you there.
