Charities legal update (Newcastle)

We are delighted to invite you to our Charities Legal Update taking place on Tuesday 7th October at our Newcastle office, 8.00am - 11.00am.
The session will ensure that you are kept up-to-date with the latest changes in law affecting the charity sector right now.
Your speakers will include individuals from our Charities team, along with guest speakers including Caroline Cooke (Head of Policy Engagement and Foresight) from the Charity Commission and Malcolm Stalker (Senior Partner) from Foster Denovo. This is a unique opportunity to hear from some leading experts on the current legal topics affecting charities.
Areas that will be covered are:
Pensions
Getting ready for (staying ready for) and making the best of Auto Enrolment. We will also look at the changing pensions landscape including areas such as Charity Commission concerns, FRS102 and Flexiday.
Contracts
A top tips session to remind charities on their obligations when entering into contractual arrangements with third parties whether with a supplier, as a supplier or in relation to collaboration arrangements including identifying issues, the key provisions including contractual liabilities and types of contracts, both binding and non-binding, including the use of Heads of Terms.
Conflicts of interest
A review of the updated Charity Commission guidance on conflicts of interest and its recent published case reports, and the corresponding company law requirements.
Campaigning
Mindful of the general election next year, a review of campaigning and political activities, the Lobbying Act and trustees duties by the head of policy engagement at the Charity Commission.
