Academies: Governance & Growth (NEWCASTLE)

Ward Hadaway's expert Education Team invite you to this free breakfast briefing on Tuesday 14th March 2017 where we will discuss the ways in which academy trusts can grow successfully, whilst also maintaining good governance, and what you need to do to prepare first.
As the educational landscape continues to evolve and the demand for MATs to develop and grow rises, academies with ambition to grow have much to consider – is their governance structure robust? Does your Trust have the capacity and resource to take on additional schools? What impact will the new health check on MATs make? How important is due diligence?
Join us at this fast paced two hour programme where we will look at the legal and practical aspects of the following four areas:
- The importance of governance – setting the context and reviewing what 2016 showed us (including Lord Nash’s letter to Chairs and Ofsted’s Governance Report).
- Effective delegation – the different governance structures, schemes of delegation, how to ensure understanding of roles and responsibilities and a look at the problems that most often arise.
- Growing your academy – the acquisition process, staffing considerations, risk and due diligence.
- Re-brokering academies – the considerations and pitfalls when transferring an academy.
Who should attend?
This seminar is specifically tailored for those on the board of trustees, including non-executive directors, at multi and single academy trusts who are looking to grow or improve, as well as any schools considering becoming an academy.
During the session, you will have the opportunity to raise questions with each speaker as well as to discuss the topics at hand with your peers during the coffee breaks.
