Judy Baker | Partner, IT/IP

Judy advises on IT, information law and intellectual property, working with both public and private sector clients.

She is a widely respected lawyer and is a member of the CBI knowledge economy group forum and the Society for Computers and Law. She has an MSc in Computing Science and had a career in IT before qualifying as a solicitor.

Judy is an expert in data protection and was a member of the steering group which produced the CBI guide 'Securing business value online – A guide for SMEs in the supply chain'. She is also a leading adviser on freedom of information.

Her team’s major clients include blue-chip technology and banking plcs and public sector bodies including NHS organisations and local authorities.

Because of her background in IT, Judy has particular expertise in providing legal advice on technology.

She has considerable experience in data protection compliance programmes. Her team advises on a wide range of IT and information law issues, including IT acquisitions and procurement, direct marketing, web-based commercial arrangements, data protection compliance and freedom of information.

In the public sector, Judy has advised numerous public bodies on freedom of information and has provided training and advice on internal compliance as well as handling requests, reviews and appeals to the Commissioner and Information Tribunal.
