Damien Charlton | Partner, Company and Commercial

Damien has been advising businesses on a wide range of company and commercial matters for over 12 years.

He has an interest in international trade, and has travelled to the Far East to establish contacts with leading Asian law firms. He has also developed a network of professional advisers in the region to support businesses that wish to trade internationally.

Damien is also a member of the National Association of Specialist Dental Accountants and Lawyers (NASDAL), an organisation that promotes expertise in the dental sector amongst specialist accountants and legal advisers.

Damien has particular experience in the drafting and negotiation of trading contracts, such as agency, distribution, outsourcing and sale and supply of goods and services, across a variety of sectors including property development and engineering. He also has considerable expertise in the structuring and execution of joint venture projects, including joint ventures with an international dimension.

Damien has wide-ranging experience in advising companies in relation to the full range of company law, including company secretarial matters, issues relating to directors’ duties and also disputes between shareholders.

The range of clients that Damien acts for runs from start-ups through SMEs to listed companies, reflecting Ward Hadaway's position as a leading adviser to entrepreneurial business in the North-East.

Damien has also advised a variety of public sector bodies in respect of grant funding agreements, as well as major procurement projects.

As a member of NASDA, Damien also has substantial experience in acting for dentists in relation to matters such as incorporation of dental practices, partnership agreements and acquisitions and disposals of practices.
