William Green | Partner, Countryside
William deals solely with countryside matters, covering farm sales and purchases, estate work and agricultural tenancies, single farm payment entitlements and partnership and business arrangements.
He is a member of the Agricultural Law Association and works alongside Christopher Hewitt and the rest of the widely regarded Ward Hadaway Countryside team.
As well as his own expertise, William can draw on the related skills of the firm’s Private Wealth Team and the Planning Team, providing a complete service for the rural industries.
Experience
William acts for some of the largest estates in the north of England, advising them on all of the issues that can arise when managing large-scale rural enterprises. He is, however, equally at home acting for the family farm, whether owner occupied or tenanted.
He has sold and purchased many thousand acres on behalf of clients and advises on Agricultural Holding Act Tenancies, particularly Succession Rights pre-1986, and Farm Business Tenancies. In addition he advises on the CAP and partnerships, joint ventures, contract farming and diversification.
William's expertise in landlord and tenant matters has been recognised by the Tenant Farmers' Association, which appointed him as a recognised professional in 2008.
Known and respected by other professionals, William regularly advises on and acts with national land agents, accountants and bankers. As well as his legal expertise in UK and EU law, he uses his practical knowledge of the countryside to produce pragmatic solutions to problems.
