Richard heads up the public companies and markets team in Ward Hadaway’s corporate department.

He is experienced in a wide range of public and private company transactions. Specialist areas include flotations, fundraising (both public and private), mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and compliance.

Richard has over 10 years' experience advising on public company and private company transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, disposals, flotations, fundraisings and advising on corporate governance and regulatory compliance matters.

He has advised on numerous venture capital backed fundraisings, having acted both for investee companies and venture capital funds and, whilst at Ward Hadaway, Richard has advised on a significant number of fundraisings involving NorthStar Equity Investors and NEL Fund Managers.

Richard advised NStar on their Proof of Concept investment documents and was consulted by NEL Fund Managers in relation to the recent update of their investment documents.

Richard has advised on eight flotations to both the main market of the London Stock Exchange and the Alternative Investment Market and he has also advised on a large number of fundraising exercises by way of placings.

More recently Richard has led the team at Ward Hadaway on all of Sage UK’s acquisitions carried out by the firm, including the £20m acquisition of Protx in November 2006, the £17m acquisition of Snowdrop Systems in May 2007, the £20m acquisition of KCS in November 2007 and the £21m acquisition of the Tekton Group in March 2008.
