LAW firm Ward Hadaway is helping an award-winning celebrity interior designer with an iconic Yorkshire project.

Carolyn Parker

The specialist Creative Industries team at Ward Hadaway, which has an office in Leeds, has advised Carolyn Parker (pictured) on a collaborative project with Batley-based textile maker Joshua Ellis.

Carolyn, who also hails from Leeds, was the resident interior designer on ITV’s flagship daytime programme This Morning and has produced designs for a variety of properties ranging from barn conversions and luxury villas, to grade 1 and 2 listed buildings in the UK and across Europe.

Her work with Joshua Ellis will see Carolyn design and produce a signature range of luxury home furnishings as well as redesigning the company’s own luxury range of home furnishings.

Joshua Ellis is one of Yorkshire’s oldest textile companies and can trace its roots back to 1767.

It specialises in producing luxury fabrics and homewares with all its manufacturing processes still undertaken in Yorkshire.

Laura Harper, partner and head of the Creative Industries team at Ward Hadaway, advised Carolyn Parker on her collaborative agreement with Joshua Ellis.

Laura said: “Carolyn is a hugely talented designer whose work is in great demand not just in the UK but across Europe.

“This project takes her right back to her Yorkshire roots and offers a fascinating challenge so we were delighted to be able to advise Carolyn on the agreement with Joshua Ellis.”

Carolyn Parker said: “I am really looking forward to working with Joshua Ellis, which has such a fantastic tradition and a distinguished history.

“The company has moved with the times but stayed true to its original principles of producing products of the highest quality so I hope we can combine to create something truly memorable.

“I am grateful to Laura and her team at Ward Hadaway for the work they have put in on the agreements for this project.”

Meryl Birch, managing director at Joshua Ellis & Co, said: “We are hugely excited about our collaboration with Carolyn.

“She is as passionate about cashmere as we are and her inspiration and creativity will help bring our luxury products to a completely new audience.”

Carolyn has also been recently appointed to create the interior for the Yorkshire TV chef James Martin’s new restaurant in Leeds.

The Malton-born Saturday Kitchen host’s new restaurant is inside the Alea Casino at Clarence Dock in Leeds and called The Leeds Kitchen by James Martin.

The venue will take over space previously occupied by The Fig restaurant and transform it into a contemporary fine dining venue which is due to open next month.

Ward Hadaway’s Creative Industries team provides specialist legal advice to a wide range of creative enterprises, including advertising and design agencies, fashion houses, digital marketing companies, games developers, production companies, artists and musicians.
