Busy time for Employment Law team | 16 June 10
EMPLOYMENT law experts at Ward Hadaway have experienced one of their busiest weeks to date, representing clients in no less than six separate Employment Tribunal hearings across the country.
Employment team partners Joe Thornhill and Harmajinder Hayre, associates Jamie Gamble and Damian Robson and solicitors Mark McKeever and Rachael McCartney all appeared at Employment Tribunals in the course of just five days.
Four out of the six cases heard during the week resulted in successful outcomes for the firm’s clients, who were defending claims brought against them. Judgement on the other two cases has been reserved for later dates.
Joe Thornhill, partner and joint head of the employment team at Ward Hadaway, said: “It is quite exceptional to have so many of our team presenting cases in Employment Tribunals at the same time.
“As well as demonstrating the strength in depth which we have at the firm, it also shows how our ability to field lawyers who can conduct their own advocacy in hearings rather than employing external legal counsel is succeeding.
“Not only does this ensure clients have continuity when it comes to dealing with cases, it also saves the additional costs of employing a specialist barrister.
“While we try to prevent cases from reaching the Employment Tribunal stage where possible, sometimes it is unavoidable.
“I am pleased to say we have an excellent track record of success in Employment Tribunal hearings, something which these latest cases have continued.”
Jamie Martin, managing partner at Ward Hadaway, said: “Employment law has long been a particular strength of the firm, but this performance from the team is truly exceptional. This is an excellent achievement and congratulations go to all involved.”
