Doing our bit for a greener world
Ward Hadaway is developing a continuous improvement programme to minimise the firm’s environmental impact.
Initiatives are already in place to recycle a range of products used by the firm, including paper, toner cartridges, computers and mobile phones.
We also currently recycle:
- glass bottles, cans and plastic cups
- all IT consumables
- used metal filing cabinets and fluorescent tubes
- all metal products that we no longer have a use for
The firm has invested significantly in video and audio conferencing facilities which are increasingly being used as a more sustainable, cost-effective and environmentally-friendly means of operating "face-to-face" meetings, whilst avoiding time spent travelling and cutting down on the firm's carbon footprint.
In addition, we ensure that our cleaners are using cleaning products that are kind to the environment, our toilets have dual flush facilities which saves water and we are currently purchasing a significant amount of our paper from sources using sustainable forests.
Ward Hadaway is also a member of the Legal Sector Alliance, an inclusive movement of law firms and organisations committed to working collaboratively to take action on climate change by reducing their carbon footprint and adopting environmentally sustainable practices.
Membership of the Legal Sector Alliance commits the firm to follow a series of principles to tackle climate change.
Further moves to reduce our carbon footprint are currently in development, including the formation of a firm-wide Environment Group to review our environment and sustainability programme and suggest continual improvements.
Where it can, the firm seeks to make use of its position to become a better corporate citizen.
Many of the refreshments offered to clients are FairTrade products and organically produced.
