Overview:
A briefing from Ward Hadaway on the implications of the new Planning Act 2008, sequential testing – which remains a important issue on many development proposals – and an update on relevant case law in relation to the lawful implementation of planning permissions.
What will be covered?
Our specialists will examine how guidance, legislation and changes to the rules governing all aspects of planning law can and will affect architects and those working for architectural practices.
We will look specifically at three areas which, in our experience, often pose issues for architects.
Planning Act 2008 – briefing
Andrew Moss will provide a complete briefing on the new Planning Act 2008 which was enacted on 27 November 2008. The Act has implications for all those working in the development sector, including architects, and we will examine how you can get the most out of the new legislation.
Sequential testing
Sequential testing can be an essential part of the planning application process, and planning expert Tim Wheeler will use his comprehensive experience to advise on important factors to consider when undertaking a sequential test.
Lawful implementation of planning permissions
Clare Cuskin will discuss the latest legislative position on the lawful implementation of planning permissions as well as highlighting some common pitfalls for architects and discussing how renewing permissions may not be easily achievable.
Why attend?
With presentations from both planning lawyers and chartered town planners, this is a unique opportunity to ensure that you and your practice are fully up to speed on important aspects of planning law and policy.
The seminar will enable you to have a checklist on several significant issues, with an opportunity to discuss practical solutions for your planning queries.
Who should attend?
This seminar will be of interest to all architects and those working in architectural practices across the region.
