Ward Hadaway does a double at Northern Law Awards

Ward Hadaway was the proud recipient of two Northern Law Awards at the 2017 ceremony held at the Hilton Hotel on June 1st.

The corporate team, one of the largest pure transaction corporate finance teams in the North East, covers all types of corporate transactions, with specialists in private equity and venture capital investments, acquisitions and disposals, and IPOs.  The team has a real focus on owner-managed businesses, and many of its transactions involve such businesses.

The team incorporates specialists in debt finance as well as tax, therefore being able to offer a fully rounded service to their clients.

Led by Martin Hulls, the team is known for its ability to put together large deal teams at short notice, working closely with other specialists at the firm, including competition law, pensions, employment, property and counterparts in other jurisdictions

Martin, who also received the Lawyer of the Year award at the Insider Dealmaker awards in September 2016, said: “We are really pleased to win this latest award, which is a tribute to the hard work, expertise and dedication of our team.

“We always strive to deliver the very best service, and to achieve the very best outcome, for our clients, and it is deeply gratifying to have this acknowledged with this award.”

The employment team is also one of the largest in the North.  It is a multi-disciplined team of Solicitors and Human Resources professionals who work together to ensure their clients receive commercial, practical and pragmatic advice and support.

It is made up of eight partners and eighteen additional solicitors and Human Resources professionals who specialise exclusively in employment law.

Harmajinder Hayre, Head of Employment, said: “It is fantastic that the team has been recognised as the leaders in their field in the North.

“The employment team works tirelessly to find commercial solutions to meet our clients’ needs on a daily basis, so thanks to the judges for recognising that.”

Jamie Martin, managing partner at Ward Hadaway, said: “To win two awards at the Northern Law Awards is very satisfying after all the hard work the teams do.

“The corporate team works with clients on the ultimate strategic moves which businesses make – raising finance, buying or selling companies.  The team does so with great skill, and has built us an enviable reputation in the region and further afield.

“The employment team deals with some of the most sensitive issues facing a business, helping teams to tread a commercial, yet sensitive path when managing their staff.  They too have established themselves as the go-to team in the marketplace.

“The awards are both richly deserved and we are very proud to be part of the Northern Law Awards, which do a tremendous job in highlighting and celebrating the excellence of the legal services sector across the region.”
